Club Updates & Office Hours 9/26

9/25/2012

Here are some quick updates about upcoming club activities:

Office Hours
Greg will be sitting by the HUB fishtanks (right near Break Zone and Panda Express) from 12 to 3 tomorrow, Wednesday September 26th. Some people had trouble spotting him before, so he will be wearing a ski club shirt tomorrow and have a small "Ski Club" sign. Feel free to come to office hours to pay dues, sign up for a trip, hand in participation agreements, or clear up any questions you may have about the club!

Trip Earlybird Deadlines
Here's a reminder of the Earlybird Deadlines and Prices for each trip:

Killington: October 12th, $265
Tremblant: October 12th, $575
Sugarloaf: November 16th, $330
Stowe: December 14th, $275
Park City & The Canyons: December 14th, $1,330
Whiteface: February 8th, $255

Remember, to get the cheapest prices on our trips, all you need to do is put down a $100 deposit by the trip's posted Earlybird deadline. If you do plan on going on a trip, you must hand in a participation agreement along with a copy of your insurance card. This is a club sports policy; we cannot allow you on a trip without a participation agreement on file. We're all getting very excited to start the season, and we hope you are too! Trust us, the trips will come sooner than you think.

Hayride
At tomorrow's office hours, all club members have the opportunity to sign up for our Club Hayride, which is coming up on Wednesday, October 10th. The event involves a good old fashion hayride out to a campsite with fire pits, food, beverages, and even live music! The Hayride costs $25, which also includes the bus ride there, so be sure to sign up and have a great time! Fear not if you can't make it tomorrow, there will be other opportunities to sign up.

Forum
Finally, a quick note on members trying to sign up for the Forum. We have had some trouble confirming some signups, but hold tight because we're figuring them out as this email is being written! Only members of the club are allowed to sign up for the forum. Please be sure to either use your PSU ID or your full name when you sign up. This makes it much easier for us to confirm that you are indeed a club member. If you continue to have trouble, please email our webmaster Dylan at dtc5062@gmail.com with any questions you may have.

We hope to see some friendly faces tomorrow at office hours, and hope to see everyone at the next meeting on Tuesday October 9th (more details to come).

Welcome to PSU Ski Club!

The temperature is beginning to drop, which can only mean one thing...

THE SKI SEASON IS ON ITS WAY!

Our first meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, September 19th at 7:30 PM in 362 Willard, which is just one week from today.

Previous emails and fliers said 262 Willard, however, please note that the location has been changed to 362 Willard, just one floor above the original location.

Come to the meeting to learn all about the club! We will announce a lot of important information about the 6 (oh yeah, I said SIX) incredible trips we have lined up for this year, including our Spring Break trip to Park City and The Canyons in Utah. Also, don't miss out on info on upcoming social events, including one next week and a club hayride soon after that.

If you already know which trips you would like to go on, don't be afraid to sign up now. That's right, all trips are now open for signups! We will be accepting either $100 trip deposits or full trip payments in either cash or check. Be sure to sign up soon, because many of them will fill up fast, especially our 2 trips before the spring semester (Killington, VT on Dec. 1-2 and Tremblant, QC on Jan. 1-5) and our Spring Break Trip (Park City and The Canyons, UT on March 1-8).

Membership dues will also be accepted at the meeting ($35 before/at the meeting, $40 after). A PSU Ski Club membership comes with tons of sweet perks, like $10-$30 discounts on trips, monthly proform deals on sick gear, a 10% discount on anything at Appalachian Outdoors, and access to our swagnificent socials.

Here's what you should do before the meeting if you want to join the club or make any payments at the meeting:
1) Go to the "forms" section of our website
2) Fill out and print a payment form (note that you can fill this out digitally!)
3) If you want to join the club, print and fill out a Club Sports Participation Agreement (parts of this can also be filled out digitally), and attach a photocopy of your health insurance card. Although you can join the club without filling out one of these agreements, we can't take you on any of our trips without one, so you might as well get it out of the way now.
4) If you want to join and/or make a payment, try to show up to the meeting 15 minutes early.

If you cannot make it to the meeting, don't worry! We will have office hours in the HUB next Wednesday, September 19th, the day of the meeting, from 11 AM to 3 PM. Just look for Greg at the table by the fishtanks, which is down the main stairs and to the right, near the Break Zone and Panda Express. He will be happy to accept any payments and to answer any questions you may have! If you would like to make a payment, please remember to bring a payment form. Office hours will be held just about every week, but be sure to check your email, as we will announce the times of office hours via the listserv.

If you STILL can't make it to meetings or office hours, just email Greg at gql5038@psu.edu. He or another officer will find a time to meet with you on campus.

Thanks everyone, we hope you all are just as excited for some snow as we are! Can't wait to see everyone next week!
